ScriptureLuke 2:8-20

To this day in the Holy Land, shepherds are not held in particularly high esteem. Often considered backward and simple, uneducated and unclean, shepherds are the epitome of what it means to be humble. Perhaps it for this very reason that the angels proclaimed Jesus’ birth to shepherds on that Christmas night long ago. The shepherds would find the child in Bethlehem, wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a food trough for a crib.  Think of it:  The sign of God’s promised savior was not a star—that was for Wise Kings from the East—but finding a child in a barn among the animals.  Sometimes it pays to work the night shift among the meek and mild.  See you Sunday.

Yours on the journey,

Pastor B.J.
