8-24-14: The Fate Of Dreamers
Scripture: Genesis 37:1-28
Even in the midst of our failings, God can turn human weakness into acts of deliverance. Genesis 37 begins the story of Joseph’s sale into slavery by his brothers. Already hated for being father’s favorite and a bit of a dreamer, Joseph angers his older brothers by telling them about his dreams—dreams where they bow down before him. In response, Joseph’s brothers sell him to some slave traders heading to Egypt. So begins a narrative wherein Joseph rises from the ranks of a slave to great power in Pharaoh’s court and is in a position to save the whole region from famine, but that is part 2 of our story.
