1-18-15: The Inescapable God

Scripture: 1 Samuel 3:1-10; Psalm 139:1-12

Psalm 139 wonders: “Where can we go to flee from God’s presence?”  The answer is an unequivocal “Nowhere.”  It was God who knit us together in our mother’s womb and it is God that calls to us throughout our lives.  God calls the boy Samuel three times while he is lying down and then promises to utter words that will make our ears tingle.  The psalmist marvels at being fearfully and wonderfully made.  Whether we are lying down, or merely growing in our mother’s womb, God searches us and knows us, comes to us and ministers to us, and is with us and within us. With such indwelling of body and Spirit, how can we fail to respond to God’s call like Samuel:  “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”

Yours on the journey,
