Transfiguration & 'Fat Sunday'
While the transfiguration story (Jesus on the mountaintop with Peter, James, and John) is full of mystery with many strange and bizarre details, the elements of blazing light and intense glory seem to indicate that the mystery itself is an essential gift of the story. It is a story that invites us to behold God’s glory, perceive the light of Christ, and enter into that light. Will we have the courage to accept the invitation? The essence of God’s glory is mystery, and the essence of mystery is wonder. Let us be filled with wonder as we seek to walk in the light of faith together. See you Sunday.
