9-21-14: Matters of Life & Death

Scripture: Exodus 14:19-31; Romans 14:1-12

Rescue and rejoicing are themes of the exodus from Egypt. Redemption and reclamation are God’s gifts to the Hebrew people, just as they are Christ’s gifts to the Christian people. God rescues the people from Pharaoh, and Miriam leads the rejoicing of her people. God redeems the Israelites from slavery and claims them as the people of God. Likewise, Christ redeems us and claims us as God’s own children. The story of the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt, and Paul’s proclamation of the gospel reflect these powerful messages of God.

See you Sunday!
